Flauta, I would really love to go by plane again. It could take me so far away ... *sigh* And I would almost die for going back to the States ... I miss my American family and the country (well most of it anyway).

Meuli, I'm looking really forward to discover the States, to see how people live there, to have some good and warm water, to bath in the lake Michigan or Lake Huron, to play some very interesting concerts in Chicago and the other cities....
But I have a panical airplane fear. I HATE it and I already can't sleep because of the plane since weeks. But for swimming through the ocean...I think it's a bit tooooooo far.......... :-nix

*cough* North Dakota, if you ever heard of it (which I doubt) :-)) It's in the very north in the "middle", at the Canadian border. North of South Dakota :-)), that is the state where Mount Rushmore (the presidents' heads) is located.
ND is in the middle of nowhere, low population (it's half the size of Germany but hast only about 600.000 people). Two seasons: winter and August :-D but the people there are sooo nice and friendly. "cold hands but warm hearts" that is what they say about themselves, and it is sooo true ... *homesick*

Hm, the great lakes are in the middle of the continent and directly at the canadien frontier, too.
I have heard about North Dakota: I have a Baedeker and some other Tourist-books where this is mentioned.
But for the moment I haven't found, where the city of Cadillac is situated.
We will go to Iron Mountain.....there are no heads of politicians but many italien immigrants and in winter a skiing area.

Hihi, in ND they are all of German ancestry, and the elder people speak some really funny "ancient" kind of German. So that was very hard for me to understand, English was much better :-)

There are some areas, where Luxemburgish people immigrated, they created villages with names of Lux. villages and even tody also speak a kind of Language which is a mix of Luxembourgish and English. They import Lux. papers and watch the lux. TV by satelite. But I have forgotten, where in the USA this is....

Hehe, same in ND :-) Capital is Bismarck, the town where I lived was called Napoleon :-)) Also available: New Leipzig, Strasburg, Hamberg, Manfred, Bremen, ...
They dance Polka, eat Kuchen and Knepfla soup, Fleishkuechla, Strudels and all kinds of stuff I had never heard of before :-)) Oh, I almost forgot the famos wedding schnaps :-))

In Iron Mountain every thing is Italien.....I'm looking forward to their "typical italian" pizzas....

But I think, Africaans as language was a larger problem than theese words...
