Info about Anerkennungsjahr and approbation for foreings doctors

Hi, Im mexican graduated doctor since 2009. Im living in Germany since 1 year ago. My husband and my son are germans and i have a residence permit or Aufenthaltserlaubnis. I want to work as Physician and make speciality in Internal medicine and later Neurology. My german is not so good in large conversations so I have to write in English :D my level is A2 and im going to Sprachkurs to get the Zertificat Deutsch B1.

Somebody here can help me with information about how to get the approbation of the Ärztekammer and what is the Anerkennungsjahr?? is it the same like Praktisches Jahr??? I know what documents I must send to the Ärztekammer but I have doubts about the next step in this procedure.

I saw in internet some private hospitals who give money (600-700euros) montly in the Praktisches Jahr. Would I receive money in the Anerkennungsjahr like in the Praktisches Jahr??? Somebody here has experiencie in this hospitals in the Anerkennungsjahr??? What is about the exam at the end of this year?? You muss understand when I ask about the money, I have a baby :S

Which surgery book can you recommend into German?? I left all my medical books in Mexico City and Im buying some in German.

HI,
I´ll try to answer your questions. First, it´s only possible for EU-citizens to get the Approbation when they have studied at a university in the EU. Citizens from other countries (eg Mexico) can only get the Berufserlaubnis nach §10 Bundesärtzeordnung. To get this you have to go to the Regierungsbehörde in MeckPom. The Ärztekammer has nothing to do with this. The Anerkennungsjahr means only that it could be possible that you had to work in a hospital before you can get the Berufserlaubnis. I investigate about the Berufserlaubnis and I will need make practices in a hospital for 18 months, this is the Anpassungsjahr. This is not problem for me, but I would like to know if this one and a half year of practices can I do it in the hospitals near where I live (Mecklenburg).
Someone in the Ausländerbehörde told me what since the last year the Bundesärztekammer concentrate all the foreign doctors in only one city; in Weimar, Thüringen. Is this information true? Someone knows something about this??

You can do this Anpassungsjahr in any hospital you like. Just make sure that the Bundesärztekammer is okay with the hospital you choose, but I can hardly imagine any problems. If you want to do Internal Medicine, almost every hospital will be happy to "hire" you, because they all run out of residents, especially in regions like Mecklenburg.

What I don't understand is your intention to do IM before Neurology. Why that? You can start with Neurology right away, there is no necessity to do IM before.

My question, is it true that to get an Approbation for non EU citizen doctor we have to do an exam?

To get the Approbation as a non-EU citizen you have to be naturalised (become a German citizen). This is a fixed rule with very limited exceptions to it. According to someone from another forum, a possible exception is that you have acquired the Facharzt title and have worked in Germany for at least five years. In order to accomplish that you need to apply for the Berufserlaubnis first, so there is no way around it.
