Forschungsprojekt Universitätsspital Basel
Liebe Studenten,
Title:
Optimization of the geometry of an ventral locking plate for ventral
tibiotalar fusion
Summary:
In an initial step we perform 3D reconstructions from CTs of healthy
ankle joints (n=10) with a designated CAD-software. A 3D model of a
locking plate prototype (Synthes, Solothurn/Switzerland) is added and
placed on the 3D-bone model of each reconstructed CT data set.
The fit of the plate to the bone is checked (lenght, distance from bone,
other).
Based on this preliminary data, the plate geometry will be
modified. Measurements with the modified design on further CT
examinations (n= 30-40) are performed.
Final modifications of the plate are executed. In the final step, the final
plate prototype is applied on 10 cadaver ankles and CT imaging is
performed. Discrepancies between the anatomy of the bone and plate
designed are again assessed.
Lenght of project:
6 months
Employer:
University Hospital Basel/Switzerland, Orthopaedic Department
Salary:
2000 Sfr / month (base of negotiation)
Viele Grüsse
