Hi everyone,

I'm a medicine student in the 10-th semester in Albania. I would like to continue my studying (Facharztausbildung) for Immunopathology in Germany...Can you please give me some information on how I should apply and when, what german language level is needed (I have heard B2 level)...for the moment I am not that good in German language and I have difficulties on searching online for my specialization in Germany.

Should I have to work for like 2 years before I apply for my specialization?
Will I be payed during the time ill be an Intern?
Is there any exam i should give to win the specialization I want?
Can you please advice me any good "UniversitätsKlinikum" where I should apply for the type of specialization I want.

Thank you very much :)

Dear anisa30,

In Germany there is no Facharzt for Immunopathology (or Immunology for that matter), just a Facharzt for Pathology with a 72-month training period (Weiterbildungszeit).

You need a medical licence (Approbation/Berufserlaubnis), a working permit and a residence permit to start the Facharztweiterbildung. It is true that for the Approbation/Berufserlaubnis you need to prove by language certificate a sound knowledge of German (at least level B2), among other things. A list of the competent authorities can be found here (http://www.bundesaerztekammer.de/page.asp?his=1.109.8910.9678).

There is no exam that you could sit in order to increase your chances of getting a position.
Once accepted, you will start with a salary of approximately 3800-4000 €/month which increases automatically with every year of training (as per collective labour agreement, e. g. TVÄ/Uniklinik (http://oeffentlicher-dienst.info/aerzte/uniklinik/)).
