Hi Wendel,
This is the first time I have contributed here because I don't have the German level but maybe I can be useful on this one!
I am British and was planning to apply for medical in the UK many years ago. In the UK, we only generally study 3 or 4 subjects at A-level (abitur equivalent). All medical schools require chemistry and one other science. Unlike in Germany the grade requirements are the same every year: AAA - that is 3 full A-levels at A grade. The highest grade is A* and if a German university assesses someone with AAA then the equivalent abitur is around 1.5. However, I have no idea how the English unis assess the abitur.
Apart from the minimum grade requirements there are other factors. The UK has the UKCAT, which is similar to the TMS. When I did it, it also included a personality test but I think this has since been withdrawn. The most important thing is the interview and it is an absolute must to have a good amount work / voluntary experience in the care sector.
You apply through: www.ucas.co.uk If I remember correctly, you can only choose 4 or 5 medical courses to apply to so do your research on which best suits you.
As I want to get excited about applying for medical school here (in 2 years time when my German is good enough) I shouldn't admit this but... I do prefer to medical schools in the UK to Germany. You get much more patient contact from early on (including in some unis from the first year); my impression that it is not as difficult a degree as in Germany and the degree is only 5 years long. Assuming it hasn't changed, this is followed by 2 years of general training before you start your residency in which you are paid a salary.
If you have any further questions please feel free to most them here.
